In the realm of the ultra-compact, design becomes an exercise in structural synthesis. This 43-square-meter residence serves as a departure from the traditional pragmatics of dwelling. Tasked with creating a sanctuary for a young professional that balances culinary passion, social gathering, and quiet retreat, the design moves away from individual furniture pieces toward a sculpted landscape.
Our intervention is defined by a series of integrated horizontal planes operating at varied elevations. This "assemblage" fuses the bed, sofa, and workspace into a continuous timber volume, carving out essential storage beneath its surface. A glass sliding-folding partition at the entry foyer provides a layered transition, containing the rituals of the kitchen while shielding the inner sanctum from the urban bustle.
Finished in a monochromatic wood-grain laminate, the apartment feels as though it were hewn from a single block of timber. Steps leading to the elevated loft bed transform the act of rest into an intentional ascent, while diagonal ledges provide a sense of structural containment. Through this clarity of form and material singularity, the physical confines of the unit dissolve. Gradient Space transcends its modest footprint to cultivate an atmosphere of vastness, serenity, and architectural poetry.
